The ministry was incorporated as Christ Truth Radio Crusade in 1949 in Claremont, California, as a nonprofit organization under 501 (c) 3 of the IRS code. The same year, the ministry began a radio program. This later became known as Prisoners Bible Broadcast, and the name was registered with the United States Patent Office in 1973. A short time after its incorporation, the ministry headquarters moved to Upland, California.
During the first 30 years, the primary emphasis was to provide New Testaments and Bibles to inmates through the prison chaplains in the United States. Following the death of the founder of the ministry, and the subsequent departure of two inspiring speakers, the ministry could no longer afford the costs of the radio ministry, and withdrew from this activity in 1979. The name of the ministry was changed to Christ Truth Ministries.
Since the early 1980s, the ministry has provided correspondence courses, Bibles, and other study helps to inmates. During the 1980s and into the early 1990s, three different correspondence courses were developed and are in use today. It was during this same period of time that a secondary focus developed, of providing used Christian literature to prison chaplains for use in their ministry. In 2004, an Old Testament Bible study was developed.
Our focus is to continue to send Bibles, Bible studies, and other Christian helps to inmates across the nation.
